World Languages

Language acquisition is a lifelong process. The primary goal of world language instruction is to enable students to communicate effectively in the target language. Students who select a classical language should be able to read and understand the language that they study. All students should be able to use the language in meaningful ways because they experience the language in authentic situations. As our students study another culture and develop a deeper awareness of the characteristics that bind us together, they also learn about the ways in which we are all different.

Rafael Meulener has served as the supervisor of world languages since his arrival in Hopewell Valley in 1999.
A former junior high school Spanish teacher, Mr. Meulener spent 16 years in Salamanca, Spain where he and his wife Carol founded the American Institute Language School. More»
