Rafael Meulener 

Rafael Meulener has served as the supervisor of world languages since his arrival in Hopewell Valley in 1999.

A former junior high school Spanish teacher, Mr. Meulener spent 16 years in Salamanca, Spain where he and his wife Carol founded the American Institute Language School.  Upon the couple's return to the U.S. in 1986, Mr. Meulener joined the East Brunswick Public Schools where he taught Spanish to junior high school students. 

During his tenure in Hopewell Valley, he has led several departmental initiatives. Among the most significant are the expansion of the elementary World Languages Program, expansion of the exchange programs at Central High School, and a number of curriculum reviews at Timberlane Middle School and Central High School. In addition to supervising the Spanish, French, German and Latin programs, Mr. Meulener oversees the district's English as a Second Language program.

Mr. Meulener holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish and biology/secondary education from the State University of New York at Cortland and a master's degree in educational administration from Rider University.

Mr. Meulener and his wife live in Jackson Township.
