Steven J. Wilfing 

Steven J. Wilfing has served as principal of Stony Brook Elementary School since 2006. A former social worker in juvenile rehabilitation, he came to Hopewell Valley from the North Brunswick Township Public  Schools where he began his educational career as a fifth grade teacher at Livingston Park School. At the time of his move to Hopewell Valley four years later, he was serving as House Dean at North Brunswick’s 1,400-student Linwood Middle School and as head coach for the high school baseball team.

Mr. Wilfing started in Hopewell Valley in 2004, as the vice principal of Stony Brook and the district’s elementary supervisor of language arts.

In the 1990s, Mr. Wilfing worked as a social worker at the Mercer County Juvenile Detention Center in Ewing. He worked briefly as a site coordinator for South Brunswick’s Before/After School Program before entering the classroom in 2000 in North Brunswick.

Mr. Wilfing holds a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C., and a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Seton Hall University.

He lives with his wife and three children in Mercerville.
