Student Council
Overview

Student Council serves as a democratic method for all students of our school to have a say in the operation of our school. Through our Student Council, every student's ideas can be heard. There are 4 officers that were elected by the fifth grade class that will facilitate the meetings as well as homeroom representatives for each homeroom in grades 1 through 5. Representatives were elected by their homerooms and their duty is to attend Student Council meetings and represent classmates' views at monthly meetings. The purpose of Student Council is to keep the students, principal, and teachers informed of each others' ideas, needs and opinions. Student Council makes sure that everyone in the school cooperates in the day to day responsibilities of being a part of a school community, enjoys improvements and special activities, and works together on specific problems. It also gives students an opportunity to learn about the democratic process and leadership. Miss Gallagher and Mr. Ledwith are the sponsors for Student Council at Hopewell Elementary this year.

Updated information will be added as the year goes on. Please check back!

Community Service

Students in the Community Service Committee are going to be working on ideas on how to help the community around Hopewell.

We are also trying to help Community Connections and Mrs. Sweeney with the Food Drive to help collect food items and cash donations for needy families. Homeroom representatives  will help Tuesday mornings at the school store outside of the Technology Lab and any other days that Mrs. Sweeney might need assistance.  We will help gather and organize food and carry items for storage.

Citizenship

In the spring, the students will be voting on a Hopewell Elementary school question.  Begin thinking of questions that the school can vote on.  Try to make a difference at our school!
*In the past, we have voted on a school motto, school flag, school t-shirt, and school song.  We could also vote on something where we are making a decision in our school about how we do things.

Fundraising

Do you have a fundraising idea?
If so, let your homeroom representative know!
