Bruce Arcurio 

Bruce Arcurio has served as principal of Bear Tavern Elementary School since 2003. A one-time high school English teacher, he came to Hopewell Valley from the East Amwell Township School in nearby Ringoes. Similar in size to Bear Tavern, the Hunterdon County school serves students from kindergarten through Grade 8. Mr. Arcurio served as principal there for three years. Prior to that, he served for two years as the assistant principal for the Loring Flemming Elementary School, a K-5 school of more than 900 students in Gloucester County.

Mr. Arcurio began his career as a teacher of English and journalism at Buena Regional High School in Atlantic County. He spent five years in the classroom before shifting his focus to administration.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Rowan University. He has attended the Principals’ Center for Educational Leadership at Princeton University.

Mr. Arcurio lives with his wife and two daughters in Flemington.
