DECEMBER 2008
On February 11, 2008, upon the recommendation of Superintendent Judith Ferguson, the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education created an ad hoc committee to conduct research for a future referendum which was to focus on “green” initiatives. The Board outlined the charge as follows:
- To advise the Board of projects that would be included in a referendum with brief rationale for each.
- To estimate the cost for each project andthe total costs for the referendum.
The Board of Education on January 12, 2009, agreed to postpone a referendum for capital projects, citing the weak economy and a concern for a taxpayer base already shouldering more than 92 percent of the district’s expenses.

SEPTEMBER 2004
| A referendum covering a list of items with an estimated cost of $15.5 million was approved on September 28, 2004. Voters were asked to okay funding for 10 new classrooms at Timberlane Middle School, district-wide technology upgrades, roof and drainage repairs at several school buildings, new music and pre-engineering courses at Central High School, and other items. |

MARCH 2002
| Known as the Back Timberlane referendum, funding for this project was defeated on March 12, 2002. This would have provided $1,860,000 in addition to $910,000 pledged for additional athletic fields for curricular, extra-curricular and community use. This also would have provided a recreational/recess area and equipment for students at Timberlane Middle School. |
