Purchasing cooperatives help reduce costs for individual members by using their larger buying power to negotiate lower prices. Hopewell Valley has participated in purchasing cooperatives since the 1990s. By the start of the 2009-2010 school year, the district was an active member in 10 such ventures, saving money on expenses from electricity and gasoline to janitorial supplies and copy paper.
