Timberlane Middle School is Off to See The Wizard

On March 23 and 24, Timberlane Middle School embarks on its ambitious musical production of
The Wizard of Oz at The Performing Arts Center of Hopewell Valley.
The Wizard of Oz is the classic, fantasy tale of a young girl swept away by a tornado to the Land of Oz and the adventures and characters she encounters in her pursuit to return home. The story and characters are rooted in the fabric of the American culture. A significant portion of the audience will now view the show and its characters through the lens of the more recent
Wicked. Timberlane’s director and choreographer Maryalice Topoleski and vocal director Sarah Paluzzi have worked hard to ensure that the TMS production is unique. Miss Topoleski has modernized the traditional elements of the play while preserving the musical's timeless theme of belief in oneself and self-discovery. The resulting production will appeal to younger audiences and provide a fresh perspective to the original movie version of the story. The music includes the songs heard in the 1939 Judy Garland classic, as well as some songs from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s rendition of the movie. The show should prove to be a great accomplishment with something for young and old alike.
Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. Reserved seats are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors. Tickets are available online at
www.showtix4u.com or may be purchased at the door each night. The Performing Arts Center of Hopewell Valley is located at 259 Pennington-Titusville Road in Pennington (adjacent to Hopewell Valley Central High School).
