Science Program Review
The Hopewell Valley Regional School District is committed to reviewing and renewing all district curricula on a rotating basis. The plan, approved by the board of education, mandates that every program in the district be reviewed on a five-year cycle. So far, the district has reviewed the gifted and talented, special education programs, business/technology/practical arts and mathematics programs. Progress continues on the recommendations from this work.
This year, the district is reviewing our K-12 science program. As has been done in the past, these programs will be reviewed by a group comprised of community members, students, teachers, administrators, and an outside expert. If you are interested in participating in this program review, please e-mail sciencereview@hvrsd.org or attend the program review meeting (details below). Every effort will be made to include as many people as possible to participate either in a subgroup or large focus group.
As part of this effort, Superintendent Thomas Smith invites interested persons to attend the first meeting for the Science program review. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 7 p.m. at the district's central administration building, 425 S. Main Street, Pennington. Attendees will learn about the review process and will meet Dr. Anne Catena of Princeton University, who will be participating in the program review process.
