2010-2011 Curricula Review
The Hopewell Valley Regional School District is committed to reviewing and renewing all district curricula on a rotating basis. The plan, approved last year by the board of education, mandates that every program in the district be reviewed on a five-year cycle. In 2009-2010, the district reviewed the gifted and talented and special education programs. Progress continues on the recommendations from this work.
This year, the district is reviewing the mathematics and technology/business/practical arts programs. As has been done in the past, these programs will be reviewed by a group comprised of community members, students, teachers, administrators, and an outside expert. Every effort will be made to include as many people as possible to participate either in a subgroup or large focus group.
As part of this effort, Superintendent Thomas Smith invites interested persons to attend the first meeting for the technology/business/practical arts review. The meeting will be held Wednesday, January 5 at 7 p.m. at the district's central administration building, 425 South Main Street, Pennington. Attendees will learn about the review process and will meet Dr. Douglas Harvey, associate professor of instructional technology at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, who will be participating in the program review process.
The review of the mathematics program will begin February 8.
